| Social science prepares students to live peacefully in a community. Our community functions with norms, beliefs, culture, tradition and laws. Therefore it is important to teach and deal with problems that are acceptable to the society and community as a whole. |

GEOGRAPHY |
| |
|
|
Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Geography seeks to understand where things are found, why they are there, and how they develop and change over time. The syllabi focus on the following types of geography from year 11 to 13:
1. Physical Geography Physical geography is the study of Earth’s seasons, climate, atmosphere, soil, streams, landforms, and oceans.
2. Human Geography Human geography is the study of the distribution of networks of people and cultures on Earth’s surface. |

DEPARTMENT ROLL AND TEACHERS |

| Khlasa College offers social science as a compulsory subject for year 9 and 10 whereas geography is offered as a choice for year 11 to 13 students. There are 231 students taking Social Science and Geography. A set of three qualified and dedicated teachers including the Head of Department are there to help the students with the subject of Social Science and Geography and most importantly help the students pass their external examination with good marks. |

Department activities
- The department manages the rain gauge at the Gurudwara area and collect the rainfall data by year 12C Geography students.
- The department also creates awareness on special days such as World Water Day, World Meteorological Day, Earth Hour, World Environment Day, World Population Day, and World Ocean Day.
- The department also observes department week as per the school calendar where by students’ creative work is displayed for the whole school.
