HOD PEMAC

The subjects in this department are core requirements which link to academic subjects. They play an important role in the whole development of an individual’s body co-ordination, improve understanding, develop moral behavior, promote friendships and infuse enthusiasm amongst people.

SUBJECTS OFFERED
Physical Education, Art and Craft and Music are offered at Khalsa College.
Physical Education is an aspect of total education which seeks through favorable adaptations, the optimum growth and development of integrated individuals; physical, emotionally, mentally and socially.


The change to use Physical Education as a means to educate pupils into awareness of physical nature of individuals is taken as a challenge at Khalsa College.

Art and Craft is offered at the College to Forms 3 and 4 students. The subject provides the basic essential concepts and skills that are used in the visual development on creativity, understanding and interpretation of our environment.
The National Anthem of Fiji, religious songs and songs from the text “Vakatagi One” are taught in Music classes. 
Career Options Available:
Fiji College of Advanced Education is offering Diploma and Degree level courses for students to graduate as teachers.
Physical Education teachers are later identified for soccer, netball and rugby coaching positions at local and international levels.
Sign writing and Art marking are other paths that students can use to start own business. Students can pursue music and become musicians as well.

Calendared Act ivities:
In the First term, activities include the Inter House Athletics, Zonal Athletics and Coca Cola Light games each year. Our school won 1 gold and 1 silver medal in the 2009 Coca Cola Light Games.  Teresia Maritina won gold in the Senior girls high jump and Temesi Tuwai won silver in the Junior boys 1500m event. Congratulations to Maritina and Temesi for their achievements.
Maritina Teresia also represented Fiji in the Common Wealth Youth games in Pune, India in 2008. The school’s U19, U17, and U15 soccer teams participate in the Fiji Secondary Schools Football Competition in the Ba district.
The school’s Netball teams participate in the netball competition organized by the 9 Secondary Schools in Ba.
Khalsa College has always produced national players in the past and will continue to do so as our school management and administrators are very supportive in giving the opportunity and financial assistance to these students.
Players like Napolioni Nalaga, Filimoni Delasau, Pio Tuwai and Seremaia Borotu went through the development phase in Khalsa College and has represented the nation in 7’s rugby.   Meli Vuilabasa, also a former student, was Captain for the National Football team which defeated the Australian team, during his youth. Meli Vuilabasa also played for the Ba District Team and the National Team for a decade. Valerio Nasema is another sports person who played famously for the Ba Team. Currently, our student Jasbir Singh is playing for the Ba Youth Football team.
The Pemac department wishes to thank the Administration and the Management for the support and the opportunities given to students and looking forward to the same support in the future.

 

 

Achievements 2010
The year started with the department organising inter-house athletics competition and training the athletes for the Ba District Athletes Meet at Govind Park in Ba. The School was placed fourth overall and 8 students were chosen to represent the School in Coke games. The athletes performed extremely well and won three gold medals.

Teresia Maretina represented the school in High Jump and Long Jump. She was the Gold medallist in both the events.

Form 7 student Katarina Ramoce represented the school in the Senior grade Discus and won a Gold medal.

Soccer
Khalsa College was also represented in the 2010 Ba Secondary School Football Association  League Competition.

Netball

Khalsa College also took part in Ba Netball League Association.
